BCBR Day 5 - this one's for Ronald

Despite going to bed last night feeling like a total disaster, I awoke today feeling only moderately destroyed, and ready to convince myself that a turnaround could be in the cards.

Warmed up enough to confirm that yes, 4 consecutive days of racing ‎do in fact take their toll on one's legs. Then we started.

I was able to find myself back in my normal racing ‎group from days 1-3 which was an initial good sign, and likely a direct result of the quarter pounder and fries last night. Even after the magic arches, some pangs of heat and nausea still remained but fortunately we raced much more singletrack and shade.

Final denouement for the today is the fabulous Hwy 102 descent - almost 9km and 2000ft of sweeping, polished trail where "flowy" would finally be appropriate. I even punched out of the woods in time to catch a group of three and sprint the line, still competitive with a 30 tooth ring!

Bike wash, shower, and an absurdly good food-truck burrito were crammed down ‎and we made the 12:30 ferry to seek out early massages. Winning.
