Cabot Trail - Rest Day and Day 3

After the bike-breaking goodness of day 2, it was time for a little sight seeing and R&R for a day.  Due to mechanicals, we managed to shorten our day 2 by about 15km by staying at an Ingonish "Resort" instead of our intended B&B. When you are in a tourist mecca such as this, there are only two accomodation options: B&B's -which are usually friendly and with some degree of personal acountability from the host, and "Resorts" - which (unless they have 4 stars, which ours don't) are turnover-maximizing tourist milking operations of the utmost eficiency. Oh yes, and B&B's also guarantee you mornings of entertaining breakfast conversations with nice old people (we are starting to feel really young - everyone our age must be in Mexico or Vegas).
After a little prerequisite sink-laundry and setting up Clothesline Jake, we hit the beach. A nice American man informed me that I was in front of his mini rent-a-cabin and had offended his wife. Finally taking a hint, we moved off down the road to a real resort - the kind with two more stars and a Spa - and did partake in some massage action.

The next day we awoke with Hurricane Irene influencing some local weather and our first day of overcast skies was threatening rain. Fortunately the shortest day of riding was ahead of us but the skies opened about 50km from home - quickly soaking us and pointing out who hadn't applied enough "rinse cycle" when washing their shorts:
A ferry crossing and an hour later we were drying out and on the home stretch. All in all a very enjoyable adventure, and recommended for sure - by both of us.
