Holy rollers batman - it's a live rollers post!

I am writing this post live from my rollers in the middle of my living room, wedsnday night as i cap off my prep for Nationals this weekend. Rollers because it is cold and dark outside (an unfortunate symptom of maintaining employment), and the reasuring smoothness of the rollers is boring, but warm and familiar at the least, with all amenities close by... I have mastered the art of one-handed laptop typing, and so far the living room roller-rash count is at zero!
Bunkering down for those few last cross nats preparations brings back good Saskatchewan memories. back then nationals was late enough in the year that Sask would get dumped with snow about 2 weeks before, forcing me outside in full winter riding apparel to try and maintain an edge. I think rides like those were part of the hard-edge sask mindset.

Nationals preparation is ranking pretty high now after a less-than epic weekend. Saturday night i felt just mediocre, then Sunday was a level of disgrace I have never displayed on an Alberta 'Cross course... so let's just say there is more redemption riding on this weekend now!

Nationals was always an epic race for the year, mainly for it's CC trash-talk, year-end timing and similarly motivated after party (many a poutine and fond memories of under-aged shenanigans). Now that it is "mid-season" and usually a two-race weekend, most of the romance has died but the competition level has gone up with more riders on peak for the event.

(almost done and roller-rash count still zero, suprising even myself)

Mid-year or not, this year will be my 9th Cyclocross nationals, and some things never change, two days till go time!
