BCBR Day 3 - Cumberland: finally nailed it

Today was a good day in the land of the cucumber. We had a solid start, right behind Legendary Canada Cup star Ruedi Schnieder (Ruedi was a top racer way back around the time I was coming up through Junior - abound '99-'00. This is the first I have seen of him since). We knew that a 'conservative' start would be key today because of accumulating fatigue and a big 10km climb at the ~20km mark.
The plan worked perfectly - we held the wheel of Ruedi and the main lead pack until the first road section (10km in) where we were forced to a stop by a large truck crossing the course. We formed up a small group - including 'Burns' and his partner, rolled some singletrack and hit the bottom of the really big road climb where we dropped all but one rider (the solo mens 40+ leader).
All in a hard days work, we solidified our position in 8th overall - three minutes to 7th spot, which should be do-able since we put that much gap into them today.
Awesome dinner tonight at a lebanese restaurant in town - the food continues to impress here. Tomorrow morning we head to the Sunshine Coast at 4:30am. Not exactly logging any catch up sleep here, but it dosent seem to matter so much in the thick sea-level air and adrenaline-fueled singletrack...
