Dole, Rochefort and Besancon area

‎Our main priorities this week are waking, consuming breads and pasties that have not been baked more than 4 hours ago, coffee, and seeking food for the day.

Second task is finding our way through the french countryside - also not too challenging when presented with country side roads whose pavement exceeds the finest calgary road, ‎and every intersection is extensively signed with directions to adjoining towns.

Thetis (our host) travels along the canal system, going up and down the lochs as nessecary. We arrived to a lovely welcome in Dole from our hosts and some of the regions best produce (fresh or otherwise). Then it was up the Canal a little to Rochefort (cheese could not be found)

Today we cycled the "Eurovelo" route, which signs out the least traveled combinations of bike road and velo path for a 90km loop. Along the way we stumbled off route and onto some new and pleasant towns, had the greatest french fries I can ever imagine, and a horse tried to eat my tires as a snack... and only rained on 3 times as weather systems move through from the Jura mountain ridges.

So far all is good. I can easily see why the ‎world loves cycling here, looking forward to more, if only to moderate the consumption of all other local specialties!
